photo of Grandparents DayFor the last seven years, Westarea Elementary has hosted an annual breakfast to salute and honor our students’ grandparents with a school-wide program. Grandparents show love and care for their grandchildren on a daily basis. This program gives grandparents another opportunity to be involved in their grandchild’s learning experience. This year’s school-wide program was an RSVP event on September 13th at 9:15 AM which included students from K-5th grade.
Historically, greetings are brought from various district, county and city officials. This year Commissioner Charles Evans brought formal greetings on behalf of the county. The guest speaker was one of Westarea’s faith-based partners and grandparents, Dr. Carl E. Brinkley. Several grandparents won door prizes. Breakfast was served to all grandparents who desired to partake. Grandparents then visited classrooms and several stayed to have lunch with their grandchildren.
